Month Five: What We’ve Learned

January 19th – February 19th

Where we’ve been:
  • Koh Samui
  • Koh Phangan
  • Koh Tao
  • Siem Reap
  • Sihanoukville
  • Koh Rong
  • Phnom Penn
What we’ve learned:
  1. It is possible to get sick of a beach
  2. Instagram is easier than blog posts but not better
  3. Bryce’s hair is borderline mullet and I dig it
  4. No…more…rice
  5. Cambodia is how I imagined Thailand to be
  6. Siem Reap should be on everyone’s travel hit-lists
  7. Don’t waste your time visiting anywhere else in Cambodia
  8. I have outgrown the “hippies” and party scene
  9. Some of the places I feared most b/c one reason or another are actually fine to visit. Totally fine.
  10. To relax and appreciate still having one more month of “vacation”
  11. Favorite place so far: Koh Tao and Siem Reap
  12. Least favorite place so far: Sihanoukville
  1.  Smelling good is difficult.  Too much heat!
  2.  Siem Reap has .50 beers
  3.  Why don’t budget travelers (backpackers) take showers or prioritize hygiene.
  4.  Excited to almost be home and have a home.
  5.  Why does most of Asia only accept cash…
  6.  Having a pool near the beach is key to not being bored.
  7.  Negotiating prices is fun
  8.  Where did the last 7 months go?
  9.   It’s important to have lazy days and relax.
  10.  Snorkeling in Koh Tao > any place we’ve ever been (Hawaii – Aruba)
  11. Least favorite place: Sihanoukville
  12. Favorite place: Koh Tao
